4. Language points · 语言点
您 vs 你 · 敬称“您”和“你”
Same meaning, different respect. Use 您 for teachers, elders and people you respect; use 你 for friends, classmates and children.
意思一样，礼貌程度不同。对老师、长辈、尊敬的人用“您”；对朋友、同学、小朋友用“你”。
们 makes people plural · “们”表示复数
Add 们 after a pronoun or a noun for people. It is light (neutral tone) and never used for things.
“们”用在人称代词或指人的名词后面，表示多数；读轻声，不用于事物。

Chinese syllables · 汉语音节
One character = one syllable. A syllable is usually initial + final + tone (b + a → bā); sometimes just a final + tone (ā).

Initials: b p m f d t n l g k h. Finals: a o e i u er · ai ei ao ou · an en · ang eng ong. b, p, f don't go with e; f, g, k, h don't go with i; er always stands alone.
